During the game you are in control of a commander leading his space soldiers, who fight dangerous aliens. The game offers a wide arsenal of weapons and powerful mechs that you acquire in the course of the game. Interestingly, Iron Marines also allows the player to see the conflict from the other side and take control of aliens.
The game features 2D, cartoon-like graphics in the style of mentioned Kingdom Rush.
