Kingdom Under Fire II

Gameplay

As you might guess, at the beginning we have to chose one side of the conflict, and then do everything in our power to dominate others. To do this, we create a powerful army and carry it into battle. However, if our opponent is too powerful, we can always forces with other players. Battles are truly epic, as on the battlefield several-thousand armies meet. Particularly spectacular are the sieges of castles and fortresses, which the creators modeled on the scenes from films such as The Lord of the Rings and Kingdom of Heaven. The attackers are trying to get through the walls by throwing ladders, catapult attacks, and attempting to breach the main gate, while the defenders try to keep repairing damage and prevent invaders’ invasion. Fighting on the walls of the castle is also a normal thing. Our avatar (at the same time, the commander of troops) takes part in the battles, whose activities we can direct from the perspective of the first or third person. Invading enemy territories and defending our own lands is not everything that the creators decided to fill our time with. We can also, as in a typical MMORPG, chat with other players, form alliances, trade with them, and create guilds, which, in turn, can transform into an even larger group.

Game modes

Although the main attraction of Kingdom Under Fire II is just online gameplay, the developers also prepared a single player campaign, reminiscent of that known from The Crusaders, although more complex and having a more interesting storyline. Just as there, we must help the chosen nation to seize the territories of the other, and once we control the entire continent, we win. Although our progress during solo play does not affect the world in multiplayer and vice versa, after completion of the campaign we do get some additional elements that we can use in the course of battles with live players.

Technology

Compared to the previous parts in Kingdom Under Fire II series, the gameplay system has been improved, most of all the management of units – now it is more intuitive, while allowing the use of different, even more complex tactics. The game is characterized by excellent audiovisuals, while advanced graphics engine allows the presence of thousands of units on the screen at the same time.
