An unusual, humorous RPG developed by Kyy Games. The players are participating in simulated sessions of a table role-playing game. Before starting the adventure, they not only create the heroes who live in fantasy realm, but they create people who play their roles as well. What’s interesting, during the game, statistics of both these groups are increased. Similarly as the first entry in the series, the game has humorous tone.

Technical aspects

Knights of Pen & Paper 2 is a comedy RPG released on PC, AND and iOS. The creators of the first entry in the series, the Behold studio, didn’t develop the title. Rather, Kyy Games, the creators of the card game Cabals: Magic & Battle Cards and of the RPG Rimelands: Hammer of Thor, replaced the studio.

Mechanics

The premise of game hasn’t changed. Knights of Pen & Paper 2 enables the player to participate in simulated table role-playing game sessions. During them the player controls both the game master and the remaining players. At the start of the game player not only creates the inhabitants of the fantasy realm, but he creates people who play them as well. Later it is possible to develop statistics of both these groups. Like the first entry in the series, Knights of Pen & Paper 2 has comedy tune and the developers are frequently making fun of other games, movies, books and television series.

The authors introduced many improvements. The list of playable races was expanded with elves and dwarves. Many new classes were added, both for the characters and for the players who control them at the table. The turn-based combat system inspired by table mechanics d20 was improved as well. The changes also include modified crafting and equipment screen. The layout of visited dungeons is now randomly generated.

Technical aspects

The first title in the series offered graphics inspired by 8-bit games. Its successor for PC, AND and iOS is based on titles released on 16-bit consoles and computers. Thanks to that, the visuals are much better while the series maintains its retro style that is similar to old cRPGs.
