The first major, non-standalone expansion to Last Train Home, a 2023 survival RTS. Last Train Home: Legion Tales introduces 10 new missions and optional challenges used to unlock various pre-made squads.
Last Train Home: Legion Tales is the first major expansion to Last Train Home, a cross between an RTS and a survival game released in November 2023. Like the base game, it was developed by Ashborne Games.
Last Train Home: Legion Tales continues the story of the base game, about the Czechoslovak Legion trying to escape the civil war-torn Russia aboard the titular train.
The story consists of previously unknown events narrated by the war veteran Zoltan. The player must keep in mind the narrator is unreliable, as Zoltan's memory isn't what it used to be.
Last Train Home: Legion Tales doesn't change the mechanics in any major way. Once again, the game is a cross between an RTS and a survival game, tasking us with completing objective, thinking tactically and managing limited resources.
The DLC adds 10 new missions, each of which tells a different story and is set in a new area. Objectives can be completed in various ways, depending on our playstyle. There are also optional challenges to check out; those are worth doing, as they reward us with currency used to purchase various squads.
The expansion is meant to be accessible both to new players and to veterans of the base game.
Last Train Home: Legion Tales is a non-standalone expansion, requiring the base version of Last Train Home.
