Legend of Kay Anniversary is a remastered version of 2005’s Legend of Kay, which was released for PlayStation 2 console (and for Nintendo DS handheld a few years later). It has been developed by Untold Games studio.
Plot
In Legend of Kay Anniversary for SWITCH, PC and etc., players take control of Kay, a titular cat who lived on island where his kind lives peacefully with nature and other animals. Then, the gorilla forces of empire ruled by Shun invade the land, ending the peace and forcing our hero to protect his home.
Game mechanics
The protagonist of Legend of Kay Anniversary is far from being defenseless, leaving his island as beginning martial artist. Even though he starts only with his sword, he later gets two additional weapons: steel claws and powerful warhammer. He also can unlock 75 different moves, though each attack is easy to perform, requiring up to a few buttons at once at best. Another feature that makes the game easier is the camera that automatically locks on nearest enemies, allowing players to focus on dealing with enemies. The latter can belong to one of 30 animal species, not including intimidating bosses.
Technical aspects
Legend of Kay Anniversary for SWITCH, PC and etc. offers greatly improved visuals compared to original game. Locations include forests, swamps, caves and seashores, and we can travel them in many ways. Those include riding boars, taking cableway and gliding on dragon’s back.
