Let's Build a Zoo is an economic strategy game that allows players to try themselves as zoo managers. It was developed by Springloaded, an independent Singaporean studio, and published by No More Robots.

Mechanics

In Let's Build a Zoo we build our own zoo from scratch. Its construction begins with preparing enclosures for animals, marking out walkways for visitors, hiring employees and, most importantly, bringing in various fauna representatives. Then there's nothing left to do but to open the zoo gates for visitors and start making money.

The acquired funds can be spent primarily on purchasing more animals, which we choose from a list of over 500 species. In addition, we spend money on new buildings, various decorations and plants growing in the garden, as well as on hiring more and more qualified employees. It is also important to discover new technologies. From time to time we also have to deal with various random events.

But it doesn't end there, because standard animal species can get boring with time. The game meets this challenge by allowing us to create various, often absurd crossword puzzles. Nothing stands in the way of obtaining, for example, hybrid of an elephant and a giraffe, a chicken and a cow, a crocodile and a duck or an owl and a capybara.
