A sandbox MMORPG, whose main theme is survival in a dangerous world. The game was developed by the independent Russian studio BitBox. What sets this game apart from competition is the medieval setting, resulting in some limitations when it comes to available tools and working techniques. The game is set in an open world of 450 square kilometers, filled with natural resources and wild animals.
Life is Feudal is the work of the independent Russian studio Bitbox. The game was designed as a combination of MMORPG and simulation of life in the Middle Ages. The creators aimed to recreate the historical reality, especially the tools and working methods, from many centuries ago.
The story is set in a small medieval kingdom with an area of about 450 square kilometers. It includes resources, forests, and animal habitats. The hero controlled by the player must survive in a hostile environment, build a shelter, defend themselves against predators and aggressors, produce tools, and so on.
The gameplay doesn’t have a clearly defined storyline. Instead, it provides the player with complete freedom to explore the vast world. We mostly focus on land transformations (we can dig tunnels and holes or elevate the terrain), acquiring raw materials, constructing buildings, manufacturing objects and fighting opponents.
We can develop our character using a skill tree featuring 25 crafting skills and 25 combat skills, as well as complementary skills – 5 for each main branch. The fighting mechanics use an advanced physics engine. The lack of targeting system forces the player to aim their attacks and avoid enemy strikes by themselves. Our only assistance comes in the form of an option to switch perspectives between FPP and TPP.
The three-dimensional visuals of Life is Feudal clearly stand out among competitive productions due to their low-budget character. However, the creators made sure to include details such as a dynamic day and night cycle and changing weather conditions.
The game employs a free-to-play model. This means that the game itself can be played for free, but some options, items, and facilities may require payments.
