Lovecraft's Untold Stories 2 is an isometric action RPG with roguelite elements developed by Russian studio Blini Games. The game is a sequel to Lovecraft's Untold Stories from 2019. The game is set in the universe of Cthulhu mythology created by the legendary writer H.P. Lovecraft.

Plot

The action of the game takes place in the 1920s, after the events of the first part of the series. The story revolves around the Parisian artist Ardois-Bonnot, who unveiled his new painting Dream Landscape during an art exhibition. The crowd watching the exhibition went into a blind panic at the sight of the work, while the painter himself fell into a deep, uninterrupted sleep shortly thereafter. Rumors begin to spread around town. Ardois-Bonnot, if people are to be believed, fell asleep just before completing his greatest work, which was to change the world. Sniffing out supernatural phenomena, a group of investigators specializing in solving supernatural cases arrive in Paris. Their goal is to uncover the mystery of the painting, awaken the sleeping artist and save the world from the influence of unexplained cosmic forces.

Mechanics

In of gameplay, Lovecraft's Untold Stories 2 is an evolution of the original. The gameplay takes place in real time. During the game we explore various levels, we face normal and surreal enemies, collect items and equipment. An important element of the game is a mental health bar. Our heroes are ordinary people and can not stand the constant encounters with space beasts. Before each task we have to prepare ourselves so that our mission doesn't end in madness or suicide.

Defeating enemies and exploring locations let us find materials, which we can use to create new items. We can use found materials to produce ammunition, first aid kits and keys that open closed ages.

The player can choose from six heroes, each with different skills and a different play style. Three of them, the Detective, the Witch and the Professor, return from the original. The other three, The Medium, The Veteran, and The Psychiatrist are completely new to the series.

Game modes

Lovecraft's Untold Stories 2 includes a single-player mode as well as an online co-op mode where up to four players can battle cosmic forces together.

Technical aspects

In of graphics, the game differs significantly from its predecessor. The pixel-art familiar from the first part has been abandoned in favor of a hand-drawn graphic style reminiscent of comic books.
