Release Date: November 4, 2004
A continuation to the 2002's best-selling first-person shooter Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, released by Electronic Arts company. Action of the installment, developed this time by the EA's internal studio, focuses on the US-Japan conflict during the World War II in the Pacific region.
Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault is a next game in the popular series of Medal of Honor series set in the time of WWII. This time, the players participate in the U.S.-Japanese fierce fights that took place in the Pacific Ocean. Everything begins with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and gives the players the ability to track two years of the conflict through the eyes of a young American soldier. The action takes place in very diverse environments. You can participate in a bloody sea landing, fighting in the jungle (the visual nuances such as the difference between the jungles of Thailand and those of the South Pacific were taken into ), or combat in military bases and warships. The campaign of Pacific Assault allows the players to participate in all the major battles that took place then, including the Battle of Guadalcanal. In some missions, you have to fight alone, and some shoulder to shoulder with other soldiers from the unit.
In the game, there are numerous cutscenes that depict the unfolding events and changes taking place in the psyche of the protagonist -- we see how he turns from a typical into a true veteran. The developers introduced the opportunity to complete the mission in several ways, instead of one of the predefined paths. Moreover, it is not only to achieve the desired destination by different routes, but even selecting one of several available targets. Naturally, in Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, we meet a new enemy, the Japanese Army, which has an arsenal of new weapons and vehicles. The game uses the graphics engine known from Quake III, but the development team at EA completely rewrote the rendering part and introduced a number of other improvements which resulted in a significant improvement in the quality of the graphics. Some major changes were introduced to the computer A.I.
