Medal of Honor for PC, PS3 and X360 is a first person shooter which is a kind of reboot of the series which was begun in 1999 on PlayStation. For the first time in the history of the series, the players are given the chance to participate in a contemporary conflict. The production was developed by two development teams: one at EA Los Angeles, which designed the single-player mode, and the other at EA DICE, which developed a dynamic multiplayer mode.
Plot
Medal of Honor takes its players to Afghanistan, where they will assume the role of the soldiers of two different units. The first one is called Tier 1. It is an elite anti-terrorist unit, carrying out the orders of the National Command Authority -- the U.S. body consisting of the U.S. president and the secretary of defense, obliged to make the most important strategic decisions - e.g. on the start of a nuclear attack. As a Tier 1 soldiers, we conduct quiet and precise operations deep in the enemy territory. The second unit is U.S. Rangers. These units operate like warhammer and do not bother with any niceties. They go hard and do not let up until it wipes out its objectives out of the surface of the earth. Alternating between these two units provides a great variety of experiences.
Mechanics
In the production, we are involved in large-scale special military operations modeled on real events. Throughout the production process, the developers could count on the active of the U.S. Special Operations Community, which ensured the credibility of the shown events. The player has the ability to ride a quad bike, bombard enemy positions using drones, or fire from a helicopter gunner station.
Game modes
In addition to the single player campaign and the multiplayer mode, the game also offers a mode called Tier 1. It consists of already beaten levels, but this time the player has a time limit. For each phase we have a certain amount of minutes after the expiration of which the mission fails. However, the player has the ability to stop the counter by scoring headshots, killing enemies in close combat, or blasting them with grenades. This mode requires an Internet connection because it automatically creates rankings of the best results.
Technical aspects
Medal of Honor for PC, PS3 and X360 uses two graphics engines. The single player campaign was developed with the use of Unreal Engine 3.0, while the multiplayer mode is powered by the famous Frostbite engine.
