Melon Journey: Bittersweet Memories is a retro narrative adventure game inspired by Game Boy titles. The gameplay revolves around exploration, simple puzzles and stealth sections.
Melon Journey: Bittersweet Memories is a relaxing retro adventure game. It was developed by Froach Club alongside Poppy Works.
The player character is Honeydew, an employee of a melon soda factory.
In search of her missing friend she heads to the bizarre Hog Town, where possession of any sort of melon-related contraband is punishable by imprisonment.
Melon Journey: Bittersweet Memories is a narrative adventure game. It revolves around exploring the world, talking to NPCs and uncovering the story. From time to time it also features simple puzzles and stealth segments, during which Honeydew must covertly sneak into a barred area.
In addition to the main plot, Hog Town hides many optional stories which let us get to know its residents.
The game also includes an optional prequel, Melon Journey Pocket, telling the story of Honeydew and her friend before she went missing.
The game only s singleplayer.
The 2D visuals of Melon Journey: Bittersweet Memories are simple but charming. They make use of a pixelated retro artstyle reminiscent of the first Game Boy. The game's extensive soundtrack, containing over 90 jazz and electric songs, was composed by markeryjane.
