The fifth game in the Momodora series, a continuation of the third installment. Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is an action platform metroidvania in which we play as a priestess named Momo, and our task is to fight off the demons.
Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is the fifth game in the Momodora series and a direct sequel to the third installment. This metroidvania made in the form of an action platform game was developed by an independent studio Bombservice, which takes care of the series, and it was published by Playism.
The action of Momodora: Moonlit Farewell takes place five years after the events presented in the third part of the series. Striking an ominous bell has brought great misfortune to the village of Koho in the form of an oncoming demon invasion. The most talented priestess, Momo Reinol, is sent by the matron on a mission to investigate the bell and find the offender. They both hope that in this way they will be able to avert the danger hanging over the village.
The story presented in the game has been told in such a way that both players familiar with the previous parts of the series and those who are just beginning their adventure in the world of Momodora or those who have only experienced the prequel Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight can find themselves in here.
Momodora: Moonlit Farewell features side-scrolling action. Moving through various stages, Momo jumps on platforms and avoids numerous traps, as well as faces enemies. Apart from regular opponents, on her way there are also huge bosses, which can be defeated only by learning their weak points.
During the dynamic fights we have to show dexterity and reflexes, efficiently performing evasions and making quick counterattacks, as well as combining attacks in murderous combinations. Momo eliminates enemies using cold weapon and also by using bow. As we progress, we earn special seals, which not only increase the protagonist's combat potential, but also allow us to adjust her fighting style to individual preferences.
Graphics of Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is made in pixel art style known from previous parts of the series.

Game Ratings for Momodora: Moonlit Farewell Video Game.
Siliconera: 9 / 10 by Daniel Bueno
Momodora: Moonlit Farewell delivers a simple and elegant Metroidvania final love letter to fans of the series.
Digital Chumps: 8.3 / 10 by Will Silberman
Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is beautifully simple, perhaps to a fault. Switch owners who take the chance on this 8-hour metroidvania will enjoy its fluid combat, glittery spritework, and mild platforming. I'm sad to see the Momodora series conclude, but I have hopes that developers Bombservice continue to design gorgeous metroidvanias.
Thumb Culture: 4 / 5
Moonlit Farewell was a game I was eager to get back to every time I had to stop playing. I couldn’t wait to find the next secret, or boss, and figure out what else lay ahead on the adventure. I’m really sad that’s it no longer an ongoing series. Hopefully, Bombservice use everything they learned while making the Momodora games and apply that to a new Metroidvania series. The team clearly have a great understanding of how to build an interesting, interconnected world that feels fun to explore, and contains exciting combat. The only things I’d really want improved are the difficulty and a few more reasons to backtrack through the world. Momodora: Moonlit Farewell receives a Thumb Culture Gold Award.
