Ratings

Created by the Jester Interactive studio, a continuation of Music game from 1998. In the sequel, the authors have improved the elements that were flawed in the original and provided even more options to compose songs.

Mechanics

Music 2000 is a program for creating music that is based on very simple assumptions. Players are given an empty board on which they can place their tracks. Each of the tracks has pads placed on it - these are samples with sounds. There are dozens of instruments to choose from, but also fragments of singing that can be freely modified. The authors included in the database a wide range of samples, over four thousand in total, which represent various musical genres, from techno and trance, through house, to rock. Nothing stands in the way of expanding the available base by loading additional recordings from the memory card. In addition, the game allows for more advanced modifications, including playing with undertone, tempo, or interfering with the character of individual samples.
