Release Date: October 27, 2011
A visual novel adventure game, the first installment of the popular Japanese series. Production consists of two separate parts. The first is a classic school romance, while the second moves the characters to an alternative version of the Earth, whose inhabitants struggle to survive in the face of invasion by cosmic invaders.
Muv-Luv is a classic visual novel adventure game, divided into two chapters (Muv-Luv Extra and Muv-Luv Unlimited), one of which is a typical school romance and the other post-apocalyptic science fiction war story. The game was developed by the Japanese studio âge and Koki Yoshimune, the scriptwriter best known for his 2001 game Kimi ga Nozomu Eien. Muv-Luv made its first debut on PC in 2003. In 2006 the production was received a direct sequel in the form of Muv-Luv Alternative, and later also a series of comicbook spin-offs and two anime series. Thanks to its success in Japan, Muv-Luv is responsible for popularizing post-apocalyptic and military themes among manga and anime authors. Hajime Isayama, the author of the Attack on Titan manga, drew direct inspiration from the series. The English edition of Muv-Luv was financed by a Kickstarter fundraiser.
Muv-Luv is divided into two chapters: Muv-Luv Extra and Muv-Luv Unlimited featuring the same protagonist.
Muv-Luv is a visual novel in the most classic sense of the term. The game is devoid of any additional arcade or logic elements. We influence the course of the story by making choices and choosing branches of the story, which ultimately translates into one of several potential endings.
All dialogues in the game have been dubbed by professional Japanese actors. Two-dimensional backgrounds and character sprites have been refreshed and adapted to work with contemporary resolutions and screens.
