Release Date: December 31, 1996
A spiritual continuation of the crazy NBA Jam series, developed by its creators after parting with Acclaim Entertainment publisher. In of binding and mechanics, the title does not differ significantly from the previous scenes of the cycle, offering, among other things, a few new games and the possibility of creating your own player and developing him in subsequent games.
NBA Hangtime is a spiritual continuator of the crazy NBA Jam series, launched in 1993 in salon vending machines. The title was developed by the creators of the first two editions of the cycle and was initially to be its full-fledged continuation. However, as a result of the separation of Midway Games and Acclaim Entertainment, the game was released at its own expense and its title was changed to NBA Hangtime.
In general, the game is a continuation of the ideas from the first parts of NBA Jam. The game consists in a slightly crazy and devoid of basic rules two-person teams, during which what counts most is the pace and effectiveness of the game. The title offers a wide selection of 29 licensed teams from the NBA basketball league with real players according to their affiliation in the season 1995-96. Unlike the previous games in the series, the match duo can be chosen from five players available in each club.
In of NBA mechanics, Hangtime introduces several modifications to the game, including fouls and completely new games, such as alley-oops and double slam-doubles. An important novelty is also the ability to create your own basketball player from scratch, determining his height, weight and asg skills from the pool of available points. What is important, such a player will develop as he wins, gaining additional attribute points to be distributed.
In of binding, NBA Hang Time does not differ significantly from previous versions of the series, clearly giving way to the competitive NBA Jam Extreme, which already uses a fully three-dimensional match engine. Just like in NBA Jam, however, the possibility of multiplayer fun was taken care of. The maximum number of participants in the game is as follows 4 players who play the roles of individual players in one or the other teams.
