NIRA Intense Import Drag Racing is a racing game produced by Bethesda Softworks studio. The player takes on the role of a professional driver and takes part in a spectacular competition of dragsters. The title benefits from the official license of the U.S. organization of racing car importers.
NIRA Intense Import Drag Racing is the work of Bethesda Softworks development team. Initially, the production was to be only an extension to the Hot Rod Championship Drag Racing game released a few months earlier. Ultimately, however, the creators decided to release the title in the form of a separate game with a license from NIRA (National Import Racing Association).
As in the original, NIRA Intense Import Drag Racing allows you to play the role of the drivers participating in the spectacular dragster races. However, the pool of available vehicles has been limited to 10 car models imported from Europe and Japan. Players have the opportunity to test themselves behind the wheel of such cars as Mitsubishi Eclipse, Toyota Supra, Honda CRX, Acura Integra, BMW M3 or Porsche 911.
The game focuses on two elements. The first one is participation in races held on 20 dragster tracks. Virtual money earned through wins allows you to make technical modifications, including many elements related to the drivetrain, driving characteristics and appearance of vehicles.
In addition to competing with artificial intelligence, the game also offers the option of multi-player struggle via dedicated Internet servers.
NIRA Intense Import Drag Racing is characterized by simple 3D graphics, mainly due to the lack of for DirectX libraries. Vehicle models, however, have been reproduced with the preservation of details allowing for identification of popular brands.
