The action takes place in a world, in which humanity is waging a war with machines controlled by a highly developed artificial intelligence. The production was released in 1999 on PS1 and is considered to be one of the best looking games available on this platform.
Omega Boost takes place in the future in which humanity is waging a fierce war with the artificial intelligence that controls numerous machines. As the robots gain the advantage in the war, the scientists develop a plan to go back in time and destroy the threat before it is too late. The task is entrusted to Lester J. Hemming, an experienced pilot, able to control the titular Omega Boost - a powerful mech equipped with a time machine. In the meantime, the enemy learns of the last hope of humanity and also plans to send its forces into the past to prevent the removal of the current timeline.
Created by the fathers of the Gran Turismo series, the production is a modern representative of its genre, moving the action into full three-dimensions and allowing players to fly freely on individual maps. In each of the nine levels, numerous groups of enemies are waiting to be defeated. In addition, the game contains ten additional tasks. The player can use traditional weapons and acceleration. As the game progresses, Omega Boost gains new improvements and becomes more powerful.
On the day of its release on PS1, Omega Boost presented an impressive technical level, was one of the most beautiful games of its time. The three-dimensional visual setting impressed with the number of details including the models, and the game ran in 60 frames per second. The mechs were designed by Shoji Kawamori, the creator of the popular brand Macross.
