Another installment of the series of dungeon-crawlers with roguelike elements. In Omega Labyrinth Life, the player takes on the role of a new student at the Belles Fleur Academy who, together with her friends, wants to save the mystical floral school garden by fighting the monsters that inhabit the magical maze.
Omega Labyrinth Life is a colorful dungeon crawler with roguelike elements, in which together with seven heroines we traverse the magical underground in search of a way to save a mystical garden. The title's developer is the Japanese studio Matrix Software, responsible for 3D remakes of the third and fourth installments of Final Fantasy, as well as other jRPGs, such as Final Fantasy: The Four Heroes Of Light or Alundra. The production is a direct sequel to Omega Labyrinth and Omega Labyrinth Z released in 2015 and 2017 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
Omega Labyrinth Life was created for the Nintendo Switch console. The game's port on PlayStation 4 is called Labyrinth Life and the main difference is that some of the more unambiguous erotic mini-games, dialogues and graphics were cut from the game.
The story in Omega Labyrinth Life takes place at the elite Belles Fleurs School, which has a mystical and eternally blooming garden. Players follow the story of Hinata Akatsuki, a new student at the academy, who accidentally moves to a parallel magical world inhabited by monsters. She soon learns that their presence threatens the precious garden. Together with her new friends she decides to save it from destruction.
The game uses the formula and gameplay model of the Japanese Mystery Dungeon series, dating back to 1993, which is represented by games such as Chocobo Mystery Dungeon. We spend most of our time exploring the partly randomly generated three-dimensional undergrounds presented in an isometric view. On the spot we fight with the monsters inhabiting them, acquire hidden treasures and discover and defeat subsequent bosses.
The game uses a turn-based system, in which all characters and opponents simultaneously perform their turn. During the game we control only one of the seven available heroines, which differ in fighting styles and skills. It is worth noting that we can always take with us one companion controlled by the AI. By winning, the characters gain experience and level up. Defeated enemies also leave behind a magical Omega energy, absorbed by the... breasts of the heroines. It provides temporary bonuses to statistics and attack strength.
After completing all or just selected levels of one of the available mazes in the game, we return to the school. We take items and treasures with us, but we lose all our experience, levels and Omega energy. An important element of fun is also the care of the school garden. Players choose which seeds and flower bulbs to plant and then have to take care of the seedlings by watering and fertilizing them. In return, they gain nectar, which is an additional currency, which they can use to buy new attacks and abilities.
Omega Labyrinth Life features incredibly vivid and colorfulvisuals that are different from what the previous installments of the series had to offer. In the case of dungeon exploration we are dealing with simple three-dimensional models and simple animations.
