An adventure game, enriched with visual novel elements, in which the player plays Emetha - a robot operating on board the OPUS ship. The task, which rests on his shoulders, is to find the Earth, which for millions of years of the cosmic journey of mankind has gradually fallen into oblivion, becoming a kind of myth.
OPUS: The Day We Found Earth is an adventure game with visual novel elements. The work of Sigono (formerly known as Team Signal) launched on mobile devices, but over time it also saw a PC port.
Action of OPUS: The Day We Found Earth takes place in the distant future when mankind has spread throughout the Universe. Across millions of years of space travel, the Blue Planet has gradually fallen into oblivion, becoming a kind of myth. However, when the human genotype began to deteriorate, it was decided to run a program called Project Earth; its aim was to find the Earth and consequently acquire older, healthy genes.
A futuristic ship, the title OPUS, has been sent into space - it is on this ship that the player, as a robot called Emeth travels. The small machine constructed by Dr. Lisa for unknown reasons was put into sleep mode shortly after the start of the mission. After many years Emeth has awakened - despite the fact that Lisa was no longer on board, being replaced by an AI based on her personality, the protagonist decided to devote himself to the old task and, with the help of his designer's hologram, try to find the Earth.
The main objective in OPUS: The Day We Found Earth is the exploration of space in search of the Blue Planet. The game has been divided into missions, during which we take direct control over a huge telescope - based on the received coordinates we try to find an object that may turn out to be the Earth. Once we have a target, we get a lot of information about it, such as estimated water resources, average surface temperature, mass and finally, similarity to the Blue Planet. As a curiosity, it should be added that we can give names to the discovered celestial bodies.
The realization of subsequent orders enables us to move the action forward: we get to know the new threads of the story during conversations with the holograms of Dr. Lisa and other of the OPUS crew. As the adventure progresses, we also get access to the subsequent secions of the ship - by interacting with the environment, we get to know not only the subsequent elements of the story but also the details of the events that took place during Emeth's extended "nap". From time to time we can unlock bonus quests where stars, asteroids or even supernovae are the goals of our searches.
Two-dimensional visuals of OPUS: The Day We Found Earth present itself neatly - while the main character, individual elements of the ship and the interface are presented in pixel art style, the cosmic landscapes bring to mind photos taken by the Hubble telescope. The gameplay is accompanied by an atmospheric soundtrack.
