Order of Battle: U.S. Marines is another paid DLC expansion for 2015 turn-based war strategy game Order of Battle: World War II (originally known as Order of Battle: Pacific), resurrecting the spirit of classic productions of this genre, headed by the famous Panzer General series. The add-on was released on PC, and developed by the creators of the base game - The Aristocrats.
Mechanics
In the summer of 1942, the Japanese troops suffered their first serious defeat in the Pacific, losing the battles of the Coral Sea and Midway. To seize the opportunity to take over the initiative in the region, the U.S. military command sent a well-trained U.S. Marine Corps unit to carry out an offensive on a group of tropical isles, including the Solomon Islands and Guadalcanal. In the Order of Battle: U.S. Marines expansion, we can recreate the actions of this unit, carried out as part of a powerful campaign in 1942-45.
As part of the DLC, we receive a brand new, 11-scenario campaign taking place mainly on subsequent Pacific islands. Interestingly, as the campaign progresses, we can see a gradual change in the strategy of the Japanese troops, which instead of a frontal attack focus on well-planned defensive actions. Apart from a completely new formation - the U.S. Marines, the game features a number of units previously unavailable in the game and its DLCs, such as the M2A4 light tank, DUKW amphibians, F2A Buffalo fighters and new concrete bunkers. Order of Battle: U.S. Marines introduces the possibility of providing ing fire for heavy infantry units. Changes and improvements were also made to the scenario editor included in the basic game.
