Our Life on Water is an adventure game with RPG and life sim elements. It was developed by Different Tales, an indie Polish studio known for Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Heart of the Forest.

Plot

Our Life on Water is set in the fictional Sakahoma, on the Mekong River. The developers were inspired by actual Cambodian and Vietnamese floating villages. We play as the Rivertalker, the local community's link to the spirit world. We must help the people deal with danger brought by the modern world, while assisted by Yla, a talking otter.

Mechanics

Our Life on Water is a third-person game. The player can traverse the areas on foot or via boat. We must explore Mekong River, meet its people, complete various quests and help them deal with their problems. This lets us gain loyal friends, shape the community's future by participating in council meetings and even find love. Supernatural phenomena are an important part of the game; we must gain the favor of the river spirits to succeed. Other than that, we must also take care of the otter Yla.

Gathering resources, ranging from bamboo to garbage, lets us produce useful items, build houses and objects. We can fish, farm, raise animals, explore the area, learn its secrets and dive in search of mystical artifacts.
