The game combines the mechanics of a first-person shooter with a tower defense game.

Plot

The developers of Out of Ammo for PC and PS4 haven’t put much effort into the plot – during the game the player simply assumes the role of a commander who is tasked with defending military bases from incoming enemies.

Mechanics

The game combines traits of tower defense genre, classic first-person shooter and tactical games. The gameplay unfolds on a few maps, including the Woodland (a base in the valley), Urban (a city), Desert and Alpine (a location in the mountains) where the player faces hostile army. The player can defend himself in a few ways: by shooting the enemies with available weapons, calling backup, ordering artillery strike, selecting targets for the snipers or asking for an air strike. The player can also give simple orders to other soldiers on the battlefield as well as erect buildings such as guard towers.

The PC and PS4 version of Out of Ammo offers a few character classes to choose from that are well known for all fans of the first-person shooters. The classes are: a Rifleman – soldier with a hand rifle, a Sniper who specializes in fighting from longer distance, a heavy armored Rocketeer, a Medic that heals his allies and an Enginner who builds and repairs fortifications.

Technical aspects

Out of Ammo for PC and PS4 is a three-dimensional game the graphics of which are slightly similar to Minecraft. The characters, weapons and the surroundings are simple and they lack details, high quality textures or advanced effects. Despite that, the game has a certain charm.
