An expansion pack for the World War 2 turn-based strategy game from 2020. Panzer Corps 2: Frontlines - Cyrenaica allows us to take part in the North African campaign during WW2. We can command either the British or the Italian forces fighting over control of this land.
Panzer Corps 2: Frontlines - Cyrenaica is an expansion to the turn-based strategy game released in 2020, set during World War II. This add-on focuses on the North African campaign. We can take part in battles for control over the titular land (as part of Operation E and Operation Com).
The expansion was prepared by the authors of the base version of the game, namely Flashback Games studio, with the from the Volcanite Games team.
The biggest novelty introduced in Panzer Corps 2: Frontlines - Cyrenaica expansion are two campaigns. They allow us to lead the Italian forces to a quick victory and an equally swift retreat, as well as to take control of the British army during their counteroffensive.
The goals set before us are diverse and include both conquests and the necessity of maintaining captured bridgeheads, as well as escapes (not necessarily to predetermined positions). There are also bonus missions, providing us with access to unique rewards.
Interestingly, the choices we make not only affect the course of a given scenario, but also what we have to deal with in subsequent missions.
Given that the battles are taking place in the desert, the prevailing conditions, led by extreme heat or sandstorms, are an important factor and they influence the tactics. The issue is further complicated by the need for inventory management, as well as the shrinking number of unit slots as the campaign progresses.
And speaking of units - the add-on gives us a range of new ones at our disposal. The Italians can make use of the Moto Guzzi TriAlce motorcycle, M11/39 and M11/40 tanks, elite Ascari del Cielo (Black Devils) paratroopers, and the Fiat CR.42 Falco biplane. The British have been given the Morris CS9 armored reconnaissance car and the RR Armored Car, Matilda II and Cruiser (MKI - MKIV) tanks, as well as the Gloster Gladiator biplane.
Historical generals also appear in the DLC, equipped with individual abilities, the skillful use of which can change the fate of many battles. The icing on the cake is the various factions that we can command during the gameplay, such as French, Indian, and Australian forces.
Panzer Corps 2: Frontlines - Cyrenaica is a non-standalone expansion, so it requires the base version of the game Panzer Corps 2.
