Panzer General III: Scorched Earth is another game by Strategic Simulations Inc. belonging to the famous strategic series Panzer General, which is considered a classic genre. In this part, once again reproduced in a full 3D environment, we move back to the World War II arena, and the plot of the game focuses on the battles conducted by German and Russian troops on the eastern front.

Four new campaigns have been put at our disposal. Players can choose between a triumphal march on Berlin, shown from the perspective of the Soviet army, or an offensive towards Moscow, in which we participate as a Wermacht soldier. Thanks to the new, "branched" scenarios, each campaign we play is unique in its own way. Like the previous parts, as the game progresses, we can distribute the points of prestige between the purchase of new units and the modernization of those already in our possession. In addition, a significant influence on the course of the battle has the terrain and weather.

Since the release of the first part in 1994, in addition to replication of proven solutions, each subsequent installment has introduced various changes and improvements to the game. In 1999 the series was equipped with the latest generation of three-dimensional graphic engine. This resulted in a significant improvement in the visual qualities of the game, as well as improved weather effects such as clouds, fog, rain and storms. The artificial intelligence of computer-controlled units has been improved, a new overview map has been introduced, the game interface has also become more friendly and intuitive.

In addition to the campaign missions, we can take part in individual scenarios and opt for the American, British, Soviet or German troops. Multiplayer mode allows you to play 1 to 4 players simultaneously over the Internet or a local network. The included scenario generator extends the fun.
