RPG game based on the cult, "paper" Paranoia system, set in a dystopian and characterized by a large dose of black humor world, and created by Dan Gelber, Greg Costikyan and Eric Goldberg.
Paranoia: The Official Video Game is an RPG based on a license a popular tabletop system called Paranoia, which was created in the 80's. Black Shamrock studio (known for ing Spiders in the development of Of Orcs and Men) and Cyanide (stealth game series Styx, Call of Cthulhu) are responsible for creating this production.
The action of Paranoia is set in the Alpha Complex - the last city of mankind, where the power is held by the so-called Computer. The powerful AI controls all aspects of life, at the same time telling the inhabitants that the complex is a paradise that should not be abandoned. Challenging speeches or orders from the authorities results in death or a long-term sentence in.... Reeducational Gulag and Spa.
In the game we play as the leader of the Level Red Issue Solving Team. Although the complicated name may suggest otherwise, in practice the role of a Problem Solver (i.e. ours) comes down to eliminating the enemies of the Alpha Complex: terrorists, mutants and of secret communities, convinced that they understand the world better than the ruler and question the unquestionable graciousness and wisdom of the Computer and the truthfulness of the theses he preaches.
Paranoia: The Official Video Game is a classic RPG title, but set in an unorthodox world. In the game we control our hero and their team, but that NPCs have their own goals and can betray us in the blink of an eye. The production offers a rich, futuristic world to explore.
Paranoia: The Official Video Game features single player mode only.
Artistic style of Paranoia: The Official Video Game refers to the source material (textbooks for the tabletop system) and in some respects can evoke associations with the well-known series of post-apocalyptic RPGs called Fallout.
