Released in 2007, hit puzzle game Peggle stormed the casual market conquering consecutively PCs, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and smartphones. Success has encouraged developers from the PopCap Games studio to create several spin-offs (e.g. Peggle Nights) and eventually a full-fledged sequel.

The basics of the game remain unchanged. It continues to resemble popular Japanese gaming machine Pachinko. The player's task is firing balls in such a way that when falling down they have to hit all the orange pegs on the board. Depending on one’s skill and luck, it is possible to activate various types of power-ups and bonuses.

In addition to the campaign mode (consisting of 60 challenges) and 60 singular levels, Peggle 2 offers multiplayer in the form of Peg Party (four players compete) and Duel (available as a free DLC).

The developers prepared a good portion of novelties. In Peggle 2, there are completely new characters, endowed with unique skills and lively reactions to the player’s actions. There are also three new Peggle Masters, and each of them has a separate music theme. The levels themselves were also enriched with new elements (e.g. rappers straight from pinball games) that improve overall gameplay qualities of the game.

Compared with the first game in the series, the sequel underwent a fundamental change in the audiovisual layer. Two-dimensional cartoon-style graphics of Peggle 2 are full of animations and special effects. Gameplay is made even more pleasurable by the accompaniment of popular classical music masterpieces (including Tchaikovsky, Grieg, and Beethoven).
