PixelJunk Monsters 2 is a continuation of The Tomorrow Children, an action game released in 2016.
The action takes place in Tiki Forest. A place known for its peacefulness has been attacked by the forces of evil, endangering local inhabitants known as Chibis and the spirit of the forest known as Tikiman. Our task is to stop the invasion at all cost.
PixelJunk Monsters 2 is a classic tower defense title. The combat takes place on small maps containing Chibis huts and the paths leading to them. The enemy approaches using those paths, forming a few waves of increasing difficulty level that can be repelled by changing trees into defense towers firing cannons, bows, and other weapons. These installations fire at the marching opponents who as can easily be imagined, fight back. This is only the beginning of our problems, as creating units costs money and gems that are amassed in the course of the battle. As a result, our budget is limited – the decision to buy the next object has to be well-thought-out and the towers have to be placed in the right locations. The action is seen from an isometric perspective, but we can zoom in at any moment to look at the detailed objects and character models.
Aside from a classic single-player campaign, the game offers local area multiplayer modes (for up to two players) and online multiplayer for up to four players.
PixelJunk Monsters 2 is characteristic for its unique visual style – all characters and elements of the environment look like as if made from wood, clay, and colorful fabrics. Depending on the chosen platform, the game runs in 30 (Switch) or 60 frames per second (PlayStation 4 and PC).
