Pokken Tournament DX for SWITCH is an improved version of the Wii U game Pokken Tournament. The game in question offers over 20 pokemon, including one that was previously unavailable, Decidueye. In addition to that, developers introduced two new game modes, Team Battle and Group Match Mode. The game now also has battle replays system – we can record our matches and publish them online. Pokken Tournament DX makes a good use of Switch’s unique functions and allows playing in both the handheld and stationary modes.
In of gameplay mechanics, Pokken Tournament DX for SWITCH is not that different from the most popular 3D fighting games. Battles between two competitors take place on closed arenas. Players choose one of the many available pokemon, among which we will find Lucario, Machamp, Suicune, Gardevoir, Pikachu Gengar, Wavile, Charrizard, or Blaziken. All of them have their own unique fighting style and combo attacks. Moreover, after using a specific combination of buttons we can summon another pokemon for a couple of seconds that will aid us in combat. Creatures like Emolga, Fennekin, Snivy, Frogadier, Eevee, Lapras, or Whimsicott can help us with their powerful one-shot attacks.
We can play against the A.I. or other players through local and online multiplayer.
Pokken Tournament DX for SWITCH has high quality and colorful visuals. Both pokemon models and arenas were created with high attention to detail. The game has the same sound effects and soundtrack as the main installments in this jRPG series.

Game Ratings for Pokken Tournament DX Video Game.
COGconnected: 70 / 100 by Alex Everatt
The story is a bit dull, featuring a "mysterious Pokemon" that really isn't that mysterious, even to casual fans like myself
Hardcore Gamer: 4 / 5 by Jacob Whritenour
I've attempted to stick to reviewing Pokkén Tournament DX on its own merits and not compare it too much with its predecessor. Of course this is the definitive version and superior choice. Fans of Pokémon will have a good time checking out the title. If there is any future content coming or major league gaming events, then it will have a bright future. Regardless, its entertaining gameplay should appeal to Switch owners and earn it a deserved fanbase.
God is a Geek: 6.5 / 10 by Nick Gillham
Pokken is a fighting game that while decent could do with understanding that complexity doesn't necessarily equal depth.
