During the game the player assumes the role of the titular adventure seeker and treasure hunter named Preston Sterling, who is examining the secrets of various myths and legends from the British Isles.

Preston Sterling is a work of German independent studio Animation Arts. The title, released among other platforms on PC, iOS and AND, is a mix of point-and-click adventure game with an action game.
The player assumes the role of an adventure seeker and treasure hunter named Preston Sterling. As the protagonist he will investigate various secrets related to myths and legends of British Isles. The task he tries to complete in the first episode – Preston Sterling and the Legend of Excalibur – is about finding the titular Excalibur. However, the path to it isn’t easy since the protagonist must face various dangers and he encounters characters that aren’t friendly towards him.
The gameplay of Preston Sterling for PC, iOS and AND doesn’t differ too much from other action-adventure games. The focus of the game is exploration of various locations. The player will examine mysterious ruins, English outdoors and the secrets of the modern buildings – among the action sequences present in these locations there is for example a section in which one must sneak guards. Player’s actions can frequently activate various traps, forcing him to escape. The action is shown from two different perspectives – the exploration is presented in third-person perspective mode and riddle solution is shown with a first-person perspective. The riddles focus on items and environmental objects manipulation. The protagonist can obtain valuable information from notes found on his way and by speaking to encountered non-playable characters.
The graphics of Preston Sterling for PC, iOS and AND present moderate quality, but some of the locations are worth a closer look. The game is released in episodic form and the story of each chapter is connected to the one presented in other pieces. The controls of the mobile versions were adapted to touch screens.
