A tactical auto battler, in which we run own military organization in South America during the 1990s. Private Military Manager allows us to plan the missions in great detail. Once this is done we can only observe how our soldiers are performing. We can recruit and train new mercenaries over the course of the game.
Private Military Manager is a production on the border of tactical games and auto battlers. As the title suggests, we can take control of a private military organization. The game was developed by the South Korean studio 5minlab, which has a portfolio of projects from various genres, including the shooter Kill The Crows and the brawler Smash Legends.
In Private Military Manager we watch the action from a bird's eye view.
We must meticulously prepare for each mission, equipping our subordinates with the appropriate gear, as well as examining the layout of the location and carefully planning our next moves. The game allows us to plot the path of the unit through successive sectors on the tactical map and decide on their behavior in each of them.
Once the preparations are done we can set the whole operation in motion and allow the soldiers to act according to our guidelines. Unlike most other tactical titles, this game does not allow us to take direct control on the battlefield. The combat proceeds automatically, so once the mission starts, all we can do is observe our subordinates in action.
Since the game somewhat forces us to act in advance, it's hard to win the first time around. Nevertheless, over the course of subsequent attempts, we gradually "work out" a given level and learn the weaknesses of the enemy forces, which may ultimately lead us to success.
After completing the mission, we can analyze the effectiveness of individual mercenaries and the tactics used, which allows for even better preparation for subsequent operations. Effort pays off, as we accumulate resources that allow us to recruit new soldiers as we progress. Additionally, we can develop our subordinates by unlocking new abilities and tactics, as well as equipping them with increasingly better gear.
Private Military Manager takes us to South America from the 1990s. We venture to the chaotic, fictional city of Cordivia. During the game, we take on the role of the head of a private military organization, which is hired to restore order in the metropolis before the rebels manage to achieve their goal and cause a civil war.
