A roguelike dungeon crawler, played in turn-based system, referring to classic representatives of the genre from the era of 16-bit platforms. In the game we play one of the four daredevils and set off to hide the Dark Lord, who stole all the light in the world and hid in deep dungeons, protected by hosts of minions and deadly traps.
Quest of Dungeons is a turn-based roguelike RPG game that belongs to the category of so-called "dungeon crawlers". The game was created by Upfall Studios led by David Amador - experienced in developing both PC and console games, as well as mobile titles. The game was released on PC, AND, etc.
The main antagonist of Quest of Dungeons is the unspecified Dark Lord, who stole all the light present in the world and hid it deep in extensive, underground dungeons. As one of the available classes - Warrior, Sorcerer, Assassins or Shaman - players have to defeat the Dark Lord and recover the stolen light. As you can easily guess, this task won't be easy, as the protagonist will have to face a whole mass of Lord's minions and traps lurking in the dungeons on his way to the target.
Game mechanics in PC release, AND, etc. Quest of Dungeons refers to classic roguelike RPG games from the 80's of the XX century. The gameplay boils down to the exploration of procedurally generated dungeons, collecting treasures found along the way, and fights in a turn-based system. The game offers numerous quests (main and side quests) and battles with regular opponents as well as slightly more demanding bosses. During the adventure, we learn useful skills (depending on the character class). We can also collect procedurally generated weapons and various equipment elements, which we can buy or sell along in the shops. As befits a roguelike game, the character controlled by us has only one life, so a failure in any of the fights means that you will have to start the whole adventure from the beginning. Depending on the player's skills, we can, however, choose one of the three available difficulty levels.
Quest of Dungeons on the PC platform, AND, etc. fully reflects the spirit of classic roguelike productions, which is present not only in the gameplay mechanics but also in the retro audiovisuals. The simple pixeled environments and character models, as well as old-school, chiptune music bring to mind cult games of this genre, released on 16-bit computers and consoles.
