QuestLord is set in a typical fantasy universe. The land is in a deplorable state, destroyed by long wars with Elven Lords. This is a terrible situation for the locals, but for the heroes, it is a great opportunity to gain fame and wealth, as there are monsters everywhere.
QuestLord is modelled on old-school dungeon crawlers like Dungeon Master or Eye of the Beholder. The game offers all the classic elements of this genre, including a first-person view, rotating only 90 degrees and a jumping way of moving. When creating a hero, the player chooses from among several available races. Each of them has not only different features but also a different starting point in the campaign.
QuestLord is impressive in size - more than one hundred and sixty maps, located both in the undergrounds and on the surface, and the world is populated with over a hundred independent characters. The authors also prepared a lot of different types of weapons and armor. The game uses a turn-based combat system and achieving success against stronger enemies requires efficient use of special attacks, items and spells.
QuestLord offers an attractive retro design that resembles early PC productions that used the VGA technology.
