Plot

The story of Radiation Island for PC, SWITCH and etc. revolves around the effects of secret research projects conducted during the World War II. The Japanese army was experimenting with teleportation technology. During the first test four tropical islands and their inhabitants disappeared without a trace. The player assumes the role of a member of an American research team. During a similar experiment conducted in 1943 they is sent to an alternative reality, to the missing islands. They must survive long enough to find a way back home.

Mechanics

The place the player visits in the PC, SWITCH and etc. version of Radiation Island consists of four islands and a large portion of the ocean. The open map is very large and filled with resources and animals. Some of the animals are calm but some of them are eager to feed on the corpse of the protagonist. The main task of the player is to survive and it can be achieved by gathering resources and looking for equipment. The player must obtain a weapon that would enable him to protect from the predators and living corpses as well. Blood-thirsty monsters who once were the inhabitants of the islands are the greatest threat.

The battles take place in real-time and are action-based. Crafting system that enables the player to construct more than one hundred different items is very helpful in surviving. A dynamical day and night system is important during the game as well. The alternative reality features many abandoned villages and research centers that enable the player to discover what really happened.

Game modes

In addition to a story campaign, Radiation Island for PC, SWITCH and etc. features a multiplayer mode. It enables the players to face each other on special arenas. The winner is awarded with resources and items.
