Rain of Reflections is a PC-based RPG that takes us into a gloomy, cyberpunk vision of the future, telling the story of three different characters. Production offers an unusual conflict resolution system where the motivation of the characters counts and violence is never the only way to deal with problems.
Rain of Reflections, released on PC, is a cyberpunk RPG that combines turn-based isometric battles with a world exploration similar to Detroit: Become Human. This is the debut production of the Swedish studio Lionbite Games.
The action of the game is set in an unspecified, dystopian version of the future. The story is told from the perspective of three characters. We direct each of them in different parts of the campaign, but as the plot develops, their fates begin to intertwine.
The first character is Wilona, a woman from a rich family, who works in a research program that conducts experiments on children. The second character is a private detective named Dwennon, and the third character is an Imra, a member of the Infrareds resistance movement trying to overthrow the unjust social system.
Rain of Reflections is an RPG, so the fun comes down to exploring the world and fulfilling tasks. Instead of traditional battles, the authors opted for a turn-based combat system in which the motivation of the characters plays a key role. Besides resorting to violence, we can also end conflicts in other, more peaceful ways. We can develop the characters through the character progression system.
The campaign is largely non-linear, and the decisions made affect both the fate of the currently played character as well as the situation of the others. It is designed to remove recurring challenges that artificially lengthen gameplay in most RPGs. This makes the story shorter, but each mission is truly unique.
Rain of Reflections offers attractive 3D graphics based on the Unity engine.
