A sequel to Real Boxing, a highly acclaimed sports game developed by Vivid Games studio. The game distinguishes itself from other similar titles by using the license of Creed - both a spin-off and a sequel to the film series about the boxer Rocky Balboa. In the game, you play as a young boxer, son of the famous champion Apollo Creed.
Real Boxing 2 CREED is a sports game based on the movie Creed directed by Ryan Coogler. It has been developed by Vivid Games studio, known for creating games such as Real Boxing published in 2012 which, by filling the market gap of boxing games, became a large success – both on mobile platforms and on PC. Unlike the full paid first installment, the second game published on devices with AND and iOS uses the popular free-to-play distribution model with microtransactions.
The story of the game is linked directly to Creed, the seventh movie about the legendary boxer Rocky Balboa. However, this time he is not the central character – neither in the movie nor in the game. The story focuses on a rich young man named Adonis Johnson. He goes against his family and decides to try his luck in a boxing career, wrestling with the legend of his father, Apollo Creed, a character that was present in all previous installments of the Rocky movie series. The novice boxer travels to Philadelphia where he finds one of his father's old rivals – the famous Rocky Balboa. He asks him to become his trainer.
Gameplay of Real Boxing 2 isn’t very different from the previous installment of the series. As the young boxer, you train under the watchful eye of Rocky and successively climb the ladder of boxing career. As you progress in the game, you will develop various statistics of your character. This will allow you to fight against stronger opponents. You will also unlock access to various useful gadgets. Some of them only have a decorative role, while others will increase specific parameters of the character.
The combat system used in the game combines realism with arcade elements. In the fights you must use a variety of hit combinations and a proper combat tactic that should depend on the opponent you face. The gameplay became slightly more dynamic than in the previous game and during the matches you can launch spectacular super attacks.
Real Boxing 2 CREED released on the AND and iOS platform offers several gameplay modes, both for single and multiplayer. Thanks to that, in addition to developing the boxer in career mode, the players can participate in regular events, complete various contracts and fight against bosses. What’s interesting, the license obtained from the MGM consortium allowed the developers to use elements of all parts of the movie series. Due to that, classic duels from the movies appear in the game, allowing the players to face icons such as Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang or Ivan Drago.
One of the biggest characteristics of Real Boxing 2 is the great improvement of the visual aspect of the game as compared to its predecessor. The developers from Vivid Games studio switched from the previously used Unreal Engine 3 to its fourth generation, making the game one of the best looking mobile productions in its genre. Characters and animations were improved as well. Thanks to the motion-capture technology, they are now much more realistic than in the previous installment of the series.
