Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville for PC, iOS and AND is a post-apocalyptic turn-based strategy that sees us fight against zombie hordes. The game was developed by Northway Games, the team responsible for two previous installments of the series.

Plot

The game takes us to near future, to a world consumed by a zombie epidemic which had destroyed all of the major cities. The player assumes control over a group of survivors that captures a small town in attempt to build a stronghold that will be able to withstand the hordes of the undead.

Mechanics

The game takes place in a turn-based system. Our job is to take over ruins in order to rebuild and fortify them to serve as a defense against the zombie attacks. As the game progresses, we take control of the whole districts, which enables us to take in more survivors. Moreover, we send our men to various missions, including resource and food gathering, as well as item acquisition. To maintain efficiency, we need to conduct research in search of useful technologies.

The game is not easy, as the inhabitants are exposed to numerous dangers, including hunger, disease, zombie attacks, or ruthless survivors. Moreover, if our tenure as the leader is marked with failures, the citizens can begin an uprising that will deprive us of power. The world of the game is inhabited by a number of independent factions led by leaders with different personalities. Depending on our choices, these groups can either become our allies and help in time of need, either through resources or manpower, or become a mortal enemy that can prove to be almost as challenging as the undead menace.

Aside from the strategy features, the game contains an extensive storyline – the campaign is filled with events that often force us to choose a solution that is often simply a lesser of two evils. Each situation offers a few choices, each having far-reaching consequences for the further gameplay.
