Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered

Mechanics

In Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered, players observe the action from the third-person perspective. The game gives us at our disposal an open world we can traverse on foot or inside one of the several dozen available vehicles resembling buggies, armored vehicles, tanks, and also a giant mech called Walker. The vast in-game world is divided into diversified sectors featuring desert Parker, the grey Dust, and snow-capped Eos, where the HQ of Earth Defense Force is located.

On their adventure, players complete story-related missions and side quests in any order they desire. These missions include rescuing and escorting prisoners, destroying enemy buildings, stealing precious vehicles, etc. Of course, the EDF are well aware of player's actions, thus one has to fight EDF infantry and motorized units as well as fighter squadrons. Similarly to the original, the game features an elaborate destruction model affecting buildings, some of the elements of the environment, and vehicles – players can use this to gain an advantage in combat or simply enjoy the overall destruction.

Completing consecutive assignments is possible thanks to a wide selection of firearms (including machine guns, shotguns, rocket launchers, etc), explosives, mines, and also original gadgets and tools (the most prominent one being the hammer players can use not only to kill their opponents by also to destroy their surroundings). As the story progresses, one collects more and more scrap that serves as an in-game currency necessary to upgrade weapons and purchase new ones.
