The game offers several variants of fun. Career mode allows the player to play the role of an ambitious novice, whose dream is to become one of the best anglers in the world. The way to the destination is not easy, however, and the adept must demonstrate appropriate skills and catch the most fertile specimens of fish in a variety of water bodies.

As befits a fishing simulation, the creators of Reel Fishing: Angler's Dream put great emphasis on realism. Each of the 40 game genres present in the game has been carefully mapped in of appearance and characteristic behavior. Locations - from quiet lakes to sun-kissed tropical beaches - have also been reconstructed with attention to detail. During virtual fishing the player hears the sounds of nature, including singing birds or splashing fish flowing to the surface of the water.
