Ridge Racer Driftopia

Ridge Racer Driftopia is another entry in Namco's racing series. It is also the first edition released in a free-to-play model with microtransactions. The game was developed by Bugbear studio, a team responsible for the FlatOut series and Ridge Racer Unbounded from 2012.

Mechanics

The game focuses mainly on the competition with other people in crazy races on the streets of cities, where turns are best overcome with spectacular slides. According to the tradition of the series, the gameplay is pure arcade and the developers didn't bother with any realism. Instead, they opted for maximum effectiveness of the action.

Environment plays an important role in races - many of its elements can be destroyed. Aggressive driving (including controlled slides) allows you to charge a special energy bar. When it's full, we can knock down our rivals' cars, completely demolishing them. With a full bar, you can even break through building walls. Acts of destruction can be combined into combinations that restore the energy bar. In addition, a good way to get rid of your rivals is to push them towards a wall when you are approaching a turn.
