A dynamic twin-stick shooter developed by Facepunch. The players assume control of various spaceships, traversing randomly-generated locations and taking part in various missions. Riftlight introduces several different types of ships: from the most versatile, useful in short and long-range combat, through a ship without projectile weapons, armed only with a laser beam, up to a mage equivalent.
Riftlight for PC is an arcade twin-stick shooter with RPG elements. The game was developed by Facepunch, a studio known from games such as Rust or Garry’s Mod.
The gameplay can be compared best to cult-classic Geometry Wars, with a considerable change – the players no longer have to traverse a small area, but are sent to spacious, randomly-generated levels and participate in various missions. The developers prepared an extensive gameplay, inspired by RPGs and hunting games. As a result, during the game our vehicle amasses experience that then can be transferred to new abilities and powers.
Riftlight introduces a few types of ships that can be chosen by the player. Ranged is a type of an assault class, useful in long and short range encounters. Caster is a type of mage, while Melee is a vessel without a projectile weapon, armed with a short range laser shaped like a sword. All these abilities can be upgraded with additional special features – each class has a different set of skills which are enabled after spending a certain amount of energy. Additionally, during the game we acquire different items which then can be used in combat. The game contains both singleplayer and cooperation modes.
