River City Ransom 2 is an arcade brawl produced by Miracle Kidz, which is a remake of a hit known from the NES console. Players direct the actions of high school students, who go to the rescue of the heaster and one of their friends kidnapped by the Stick Gang. The game has been enriched with RPG elements allowing to develop heroes' skills.
Miracle Kidz studio, created by former Technos Japan employees or fathers of River City Ransom series, has prepared a remake of its hit from years ago.
The heroes of the game are high school students from one of the many schools in the title city. The characters will set off on a rescue mission to free the kidnapped director and one of his friends from the hands of the mysterious "Slick" and his gang terrorising the whole city.
Sequel does not differ from the original. The game is still a combination of walking fight with RPG. The characters move mainly to the right and have regular battles with enemy gangs and numerous sub-bosses. For winning duels the heroes gain coins, which they can later use in shops for useful gadgets or new skills. Each character is additionally described with several statistics that determine her skills in combat.
Graphically, River City Ransom 2 has only been gently improved on the original from years ago. The game did not lose its characteristic style, although the authors worked on the animation and got rid of the intrusive effect of pixelosis. The soundtrack of the title has also been modernized.
