A spin-off of the popular beat'em up series. River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next is set during the Age of Three Kingdoms period. Kunio and his band participate in historical, yet not so serious battles. We can use various types of attacks or even a motorcycle to defeat enemies.
River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next is a spin-off of the beat'em up series titled Kunio-Kun, known in the West under the name of River City. It is also a sequel of the game released in 2022, titled River City Saga: Three Kingdoms. This project is the result of a collaboration between R-Force Entertainment studio and Arc System Works company.
The action of River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next begins after the events depicted in the previous part. After the Battle of Red Cliffs, the war fought by three hostile countries into which China was divided (hence the name of this period - the Age of the Three Kingdoms) is in full swing. Kunio, as Guan Yu, is still in the midst of these events and participates in subsequent historical battles, up to the battle on the Wuzhang Plains, which is the culmination of the entire era.
Similar to what happened in the previous titles under this brand, apart from Kunio, other characters known from the series appear in the game, often in surprising roles. The story itself is full of humor, treating history with a wink.
In River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next we watch the events from the side. During the game we control a selected character and go through various stages, engaging in dynamic battles with opponents. On the battlefield, we primarily use melee weapons, but that's not the extent of our capabilities.
We can also get on a motorcycle known as Red Hare and run over our enemies. The game allows to improve it and modify its appearance as we progress. Besides, special attacks and tactics are waiting to be tested, the skillful use of which can change the fate of many battles. We have the ability to summon friendly generals, who can appear in arenas as our reinforcements.
In River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next we can play alone or in a cooperative multiplayer mode, either online or on a shared screen.
