Road to Dragons is set in a fantasy land, engulfed in a war between humans and dragons, which began thousands of years ago. When it seems that humanity may win, an army of dragons suddenly appears, routing the forces of good and eating almost the whole world.

The game is set in a fantasy world engulfed in a war between humans and dragons, which began thousands of years ago. When it seems that humanity can win, suddenly an army of dragons appears, routing the forces of good and devouring nearly the whole world. The story campaign begins 17 years later and focuses on the Chosen One (player character), whose powers awaken in the capital of what's left of the human country. Their destiny is to unite the mightiest heroes and free the realm from the evil dragons.
The gameplay consists mostly of battling monsters. The combat system is quite unusual. On the bottom of the screen there are small s representing the characters' moves and attacks. You have to select them in a manner that allows the characters to avoid the obstacles and kill the opponents. Linking several s representing attacks amplifies the damage.
When you win a battle, you are rewarded with magic books, which allow you to summon new heroes and develop your army. There are over thousand characters in the game and all of them have their own unique bios, equipment, and abilities.
While the gameplay is mostly combat-oriented, the game features an expansive plot with thousands of quests to complete and a large world to explore with a map. Road to Dragons also features online elements; the players can borrow heroes from their friends to pit them against the strongest boss enemies.
