Rocksmith (2011)

Rocksmith is a music game that enables us to play on a real guitar (either electroacoustic or electric). It was created by the French company Ubisoft.

Rocksmith is made for anyone who owns, or intends to acquire a real guitar. The richest edition of the game includes an instrument created in collaboration with the Gibson company – there is also a special cable that enables us to connect the guitar to our computer, making it work like a controller, with which we can play one of 45 songs (including, but not limited to, pieces by Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Nirvana, and The Animals).

One of the goals that Ubisoft set for themselves while developing Rocksmith, was to create a brand that would fit into the concept of "games with benefits", i.e. a game that would not only provide players with entertainment, but also stimulate their skills, in this case, the ability to play the guitar. Therefore, the disc containing Rocksmith includes not only standard game modes but also guides and tutorials that aim to teach novice players basic chords and help the old stagers to polish their technique.
