Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song- Remastered is a remastered version of the jRPG Romancing SaGa, released in 2005 for the PlayStation 2, which was itself a remake of the 1992 16-bit game. It was all developed by Square Enix.
The story is set in a fantasy land known as Meridas. A thousand years before the events of the game, this land witnessed a war between gods. As a result of it, two evil deities were annihilated and a third, named Saruin, was imprisoned.
The game tells the story of eight characters. Each of them has its own plot thread, but as the campaign progresses they tighten more and more, until eventually all the characters are forced to forces to prevent the forces of darkness from freeing Saruin.
Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song- Remastered is built on the foundations typical of the jRPG genre. So we explore the world, complete quests and fight turn-based battles, in which we command a team of several players.
However, the game introduces a lot of unusual solutions, rarely seen in productions of this type. The campaign is largely non-linear and offers a lot of freedom of exploration. In addition, there is no classic development based on the accumulation of experience points. New skills are unlocked using the weapons assigned to them, and stats are increased depending on the course of battles.
The authors have prepared a number of different character classes and each has unique talents and its own path of development.
The game allows only for solitary gameplay.
Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song- Remastered offers an eye-pleasing 3D graphics, made in a slightly cartoonish style. Compared to the original from PlayStation 2, the authors increased the resolution and improved the visual effects.
The changes were not limited to remastering the graphics and also included gameplay. The list of characters we can recruit has been expanded, new classes have been added and numerous gameplay improvements have been made, including a mini-map and an option to speed up the course of battles. In addition, many bosses have gained additional abilities.
