A traditional point&click adventure game from the authors of Lamplight City. Rosewater takes us to the Wild West. We play as the writer Harley Leger who ed a treasure hunting expedition. In additional to typical puzzles the game forces us to complete certain scenes within a time limit and to maintain good relations with our colleagues.
Rosewater is another point-and-click adventure game set in the 19th century, following Lamplight City. It was created by the independent studio Grundislav Games. The story is loosely related to the studio's previous game. It focuses on a six-person expedition in search of gold.
The main character of Rosewater is the experienced writer Harley Leger, arrives in a sleepy town in western Vespucci. After accepting a position at a local newspaper, she is given the task of conducting an interview with a man known as Gentleman Jake, who has come to town to showcase his alleged heroic feats. Jake offers the woman a much more exciting job: he is on the trail of a huge amount of hidden gold and is looking for people willing to accompany him on the expedition.
Rosewater is a traditional "point-and-click" adventure game, in which the cursor changes when hovering over a specific object. If several actions are available, one should be selected from the list. The game also uses a classic equipment system, from which we must select and use items.
The game also includes a number of more modern mechanics. We must maintain relationships with five travel companions by choosing various dialogue options. It can affect the course of the story. Additionally, we encounter random events during our expedition, dependent on our previous decisions and available resources.
One of the unexpected mechanics featured in Rosewater is a timer present in certain situations.
Rosewater from Adventure Game Studio offers fully rotoscoped animations and a soundtrack featuring "live instruments" by Mark Benis. Over sixty characters are voiced by a professional cast of actors.
