An adventure game with RPG elements, which takes us to a world inspired by Russian and Icelandic legends. In Selfloss we play the role of an old man who sets off on a journey through a mysterious land, helping those in need and trying to heal his wounded soul.
Selfloss is an adventure game with RPG elements, inspired by Russian and Icelandic legends and folk tales. It was created by an indie developer, Alexander Goodwin.
Selfloss is set in a fantasy world. It stars an old man, who one day heads out to help an unknown, wailing animal. His adventure leads him through a mysterious land full of puzzles and danger, inspired by Russian and Icelandic legends, eventually letting him heal his wounded soul.
Selfloss makes use of the top-down perspective. The game features many diverse locations to visit, including small settlements and ancient ruins; some are traversed on foot, others on a boat. The protagonist wields a magical, levitating staff which lights up the area around him and can be used to solve puzzles or defend him from danger. There are numerous traps to overcome and enemies to defeat in fast-paced battles.
Selfloss features hand-drawn visuals inspired by postimpressionist paintings.

Game Ratings for Selfloss Video Game.
Impulsegamer: 4 / 5 by Richard Banks
Kazimir's journey handles topics like loss, and the frailty of humankind and nature, with such sincerity that makes Selfloss a journey worth shedding a tear or two for.
Thumb Culture: 3 / 5
I did say this game needs co-ordination and unfortunately, I am a button masher extraordinaire. I can, however, appreciate the beauty and the message of this story. Kazimir’s journey needs to end with the peace he needs and deserves. Selfloss is a bittersweet yet stimulating game that incorporates both story and gameplay. I recommend this game to anyone wanting to dive into a deep narrative about ‘self-loss’ (pun fully intended). This is a great start for Goodwin Game, I can’t wait to see what they publish next.
PlayStation Universe: 6.5 / 10 by Tony Colton
Showing a tonne of promise, Selfloss just fails to hit the landing in many places. With a lack of polish in some key areas, this one will leave you questioning what might have been.
