While playing, we don't have to worry about the strength of the wind or the slope of the terrain, and the only problem is to shoot accurately and by obstacles.
Sensible Golf is a two-dimensional PC arcade game, offering a simplified and tongue-in-cheek vision of golf. The game was developed by Sensible Software studio. After the success of the Sensible Soccer series, the developer has decided to use its characteristic graphic style and the idea of carefree fun to other sports games.
Due to the fact that Sensible Golf takes place in two dimensions only, the game doesn't have the realism known from typical golf simulators, such as Microsoft Golf or Links series. The action is seen here from the top-down perspective, well known to fans of the aforementioned Sensible Soccer or the popular Cannon Fodder series. The gameplay - even though it follows all the basic rules of golf - has been greatly simplified.
First of all, we don't have to worry about such important elements as the strength of the wind or the slope of the terrain. All the fun comes down to choosing the right stick (the game itself suggests the best one) and making an accurate shot. Our only problems are possible obstacles and the type of ground on which the ball will land. To hit the golf ball, we use the three-click method known from typical golf games, which is responsible for taking a swing, determining the strength of the shot, and then hitting at the most appropriate time.
Sensible Golf on PC allows you to play several modes, where you can play a round, tournament or an entire season on completely fictional golf courses. It is also possible to play together with friends, in which up to 72 people can participate. Due to the above mentioned simplifications, the game cannot be treated as a full-fledged golf simulator, but it will surely appeal to all fans of purely arcade production of Sensible Software studio.
