Sentinel is a game created as a result of nearly 16 months of Matthew Brown's experiments with the music sequencer of the Unity engine. Production is an attempt to combine a tower defence strategy with a music game. The artist was inspired by such titles as Rez, Lumines and Soundshapes.

The game has no story. The player's task is to stop the waves of attacking enemies by placing defensive towers around their march route. The reward for destroying an enemy unit is the raw materials for which you can buy new defensive formations.

The Sentinel gameplay differs from the classic tower defense strategies by several elements. First of all, opponents attack from both sides, which requires from the player increased attention and efficient response to events in the game. In addition, the setting of successive defensive turrets of various types directly affects the background music accompanying the game.
