The series was launched in 1996, by the game Revelations: Persona, which is a spin-off of the brand Shin Megami Tensei (originally known globally as Revelations). The production, which debuted on PlayStation consoles, was so successful that it eventually gave rise to a new, separate series. Although from the beginning the series was associated with PlayStation consoles, over the years it has also made its presence felt on other platforms.
